About the event
Trackers list a HYPE unlock for core contributors on 6 November 2026, but Hyperliquid has announced no amount. The date rests on a team rule: distributions, “if any”, take place on the 6th of the month. Tokenomist shows 6 November on its page without a figure. The 9,916,666 HYPE that travels with the date, 0.99% of the 1 billion supply, is a modelled ceiling from Tokenomist’s research, not a forecast of what contributors will claim.
The team decides for itself how much it takes each month. Every month with a verified figure has come in below that ceiling; the largest, October 2026 at 3.75 million HYPE, reached 37.8% of it. The only signal for this round is a 179,706 HYPE unstake request spotted by an on-chain analyst, and the team has said nothing about it.
Why the HYPE unlock trackers disagree
Tokenomist’s number is arithmetic: 238 million core-contributor tokens divided by 24 months. It comes from a research article of 1 April 2026, on vesting data as of 23 March. The Block described the same shape in December 2025, a one-year cliff and then 24 months of vesting, and credited it to DefiLlama projections.
Tokenomics.com prints something else: 14,175,778 HYPE on 29 November, or 1.4% of supply. That is a different model. It spreads insiders’ 238 million over 36 months, and its figure is not team-only, since 46.3% of it is community tokens and 7.0% foundation tokens. The insider part is 46.6%, about 6.6 million HYPE by our arithmetic. The page says its data was verified by the Hyperliquid team but carries no update date, and its 29th matches the genesis anniversary. Tokenomist’s research dates the 6th-of-the-month cadence to an announcement of 28 December 2025, so we treat 29 November as superseded.
Neither model is official. The core contributors page in Hyperliquid’s documentation carries no vesting terms, and The Block reported on 29 December 2025 that the full timetable did not appear to be public. A team member told the outlet: “The vesting is not linear.” Any straight division of 238 million therefore rests on an assumption the team has contradicted. Tokenomist also cites the Hyper Foundation for most vesting completing between 2027 and 2028.
The team’s rule: the 6th of the month, “if any”
The date comes from co-founder iliensinc, writing on Discord in late December 2025, as relayed by The Block: “Moving forward, distributions, if any, will take place on the 6th of the month.”
That sentence sets a day, not an amount, and it allows for no distribution at all. No Hyperliquid announcement we could find names 6 November 2026 in particular. Nobody has published a time of day either: our listing covers the whole UTC day, which starts at 01:00 in Paris, Rome and Lagos.
Genesis, cliff and first claim
HYPE launched on 29 November 2024 with about 270 million tokens airdropped fully unlocked. Core contributors hold 23.80% of supply under Tokenomist’s breakdown, behind future emissions and community rewards (38.89%) and the genesis distribution (31.00%). Trackers describe a 12-month cliff on those tokens. It ran out on the first anniversary, 29 November 2025, when the first 1.75 million HYPE came through, Cointelegraph reported. So this is not a cliff event: that one is a year old. iliensinc said at the time: “There are no investor unlocks, as Hyperliquid never raised any external capital.”
For scale, Tokenomist counted 239,406,814 HYPE in circulation (23.94% of supply) on its page last updated at 09:02 UTC on 1 November 2026. The ceiling equals 4.1% of that figure and 4.2% of the 238 million allocation. If you are new to the mechanics, our token unlock glossary entry explains the terms.
Claimed versus modelled: the record since November 2025
| Period | HYPE | Status |
|---|---|---|
| November 2025 | 1,745,746 | Tokenomist verified claim; Cointelegraph reported 1.75 million |
| January 2026 | 1,125,766 | Tokenomist verified claim, tied to the 1.2 million unstaked in December for a 6 January distribution |
| February 2026 | 140,333 | Tokenomist verified claim |
| March 2026 | 173,217 | Tokenomist verified claim |
| April 2026 | About 330,000 | Tokenomist: announced on 29 March, “committed”, execution not confirmed in its report |
| May to July 2026 | No verified figure | Nothing we could check |
| August 2026 | 433,025 | Reported HyperLabs unstake; purpose not explained, may be staking income |
| September 2026 | 433,000 | Reported HyperLabs unstake; purpose not explained, may be staking income |
| October 2026 | 3,750,000 | Team statement on Discord: OTC sale to an institution |
| November 2026 | Not announced | 179,706 unstake request reported by on-chain analyst Yu Jin; no team statement |
Through March, Tokenomist’s claims add up to about 3.19 million HYPE, against 405.41 million it models as unlocked by then. February’s 140,333 is 1.4% of the 9.92 million ceiling. Tokenomist’s HYPE page itself lists no dated claims, so a calendar entry there says nothing about what was really taken.

August and September are the hard months to classify. crypto.news reported 433,025 HYPE for the August cycle, with 165,000 of it moving to market maker Flowdesk, then a 433,000 request on 30 August flagged by analyst Ember, and no explanation from Hyperliquid or HyperLabs. Cryptoast counted the same amounts as the two previous monthly distributions, citing DefiLlama. Crypto Briefing read them as HyperLabs taking out staking income: on its figures of about 241 million HYPE staked and 14,400 HYPE a day in rewards, 30 days comes to 432,000. Both readings fit the numbers, so the table marks them as reported unstakes, not claims.
October’s 3.75 million HYPE went through an OTC sale
The October batch is the one month that shows how far a claim can go. On 30 September, a Discord message attributed to iliensinc said: “Hyperliquid Labs has entered an OTC deal to sell 3.75M tokens to an institution for the October team unlock.” The unstaking began about that day and the tokens reached Hyperliquid Labs’ spot balance on 7 October, crypto.news reported. The $330 million put on the batch is market value at about $87.70, not a disclosed sale price. Cryptoast called it the largest distribution in the token’s history, about nine times the previous ones.
The buyer, the price and any lock-up remain undisclosed. Crypto.news, citing Onchain Lens, reported on 8 October that 1.875 million HYPE went to five addresses, 375,000 each, and citing Lookonchain that 1.25 million returned to staking. David Schamis, CEO of Hyperliquid Strategies, denied that his company was the buyer. Even this record month stopped well short of the model, and it was arranged over the counter, not sold on an order book.
Buybacks and the burn, as context
Hyperliquid’s Assistance Fund buys HYPE on the market. In December 2025 the Hyper Foundation asked validators to treat the fund’s HYPE as burned and drop it from circulating and total supply, Cointelegraph reported. The vote concerned recognition, not an on-chain burn: the tokens sit in a system address. Tangem reported on 24 December that about 37 million HYPE were recognised as burned with 85% of validator stake in favour. We have not read a primary record of that tally.
A newer source of money arrived with AQAv2, which validators approved on 12 June 2026 with 69.08% support. About 90% of net yield on USDC reserves goes to the fund, and the first payment, about $14.58 million, was still pending transfer on 3 October, Crypto Briefing reported.

The one signal so far: a 179,706 HYPE request due on 4 November
On-chain analyst Yu Jin reported on 29 October, according to PANews, that HyperLabs asked to unstake 179,706 HYPE, about $14.49 million then, with the tokens due on the evening of 4 November. CryptoMeter carried the same figures and placed the request on a wallet ending in 251. Both are readings of on-chain data; neither quotes the team. PANews expects the usual route, to team members and then over the counter through Flowdesk, while CryptoMeter calls that route a projection from earlier activity.
Neither report mentions 6 November, and the request is not confirmed as that month’s claim. At 1.81% of the ceiling, it would sit far closer to February than to October.
How to read the date from Europe or Africa
The seven-day unstake queue is the useful part. Tokens cannot leave staking the day a request is made, so a team claim tends to surface about a week ahead, as January’s and October’s did. A reader in Paris, Milan or Lagos who follows HYPE learns more from the unstake request and the team’s Discord post than from a tracker headline. Our Hyperliquid project page covers the wider protocol, and the ICE-backed perpetuals news of 29 October gives the latest business context.
Compare this with an unlock that has a real lock ending behind it, such as Monad on 24 November. This page makes no price prediction and is not investment advice.
What is still unknown
- How much the team will claim on 6 November, or whether it will claim anything.
- Whether the 179,706 HYPE request is that claim.
- Who bought the October batch, at what price and under what lock-up.
- The official vesting schedule, which is not public.
- What the team took from May to July 2026, and whether the August and September unstakes count as claims.
- How much the Assistance Fund holds today, and whether the first reserve-yield payment has reached it.
- The time of day of any distribution, and whether recipients intend to sell.
The next dates to check are 4 November, when the reported request would clear the queue, and 6 November, the team’s monthly date.
