About the event
On 16 March 2027, the last monthly tranche of ARB tokens reserved for the Arbitrum team, advisors and early investors is scheduled to unlock. It closes the four-year vesting schedule that started when the ARB token launched on 16 March 2023. Arbitrum is one of the largest Ethereum layer 2 network by activity, and ARB is its governance token.
What exactly unlocks?
According to the Arbitrum Foundation documentation, 26.94% of the 10 billion ARB supply went to the team, future team members and advisors, and 17.53% to investors. All of these tokens were locked for four years: a first unlock one year after launch (16 March 2024), then monthly unlocks for the remaining three years, on the 16th of each month. The monthly tranche is about 92.65 million ARB, or roughly 0.93% of the total supply, as tracked by Tokenomist. The March 2027 tranche is the last one of this schedule.
Key facts
- Date: 16 March 2027 (exact on-chain time may vary).
- Amount: about 92.65 million ARB for team, advisors and investors.
- Share: about 0.93% of the 10 billion ARB maximum supply.
- After this date, no team or investor tokens remain locked under the original schedule.
Why it matters
A token unlock increases the supply that holders are free to sell. These tranches have added new tradable supply every month for three years, so the end of vesting removes a regular source of potential selling pressure. That does not mean the price will rise: unlocked tokens may be sold before or after the date, and the Arbitrum DAO treasury still controls a large share of the supply. Treat the date as one data point among others, and never trade on it alone. This page is information, not investment advice.
